ONBOARD MEDICAL OXYGEN
• The service of on-board medical oxygen is
available only on flights between Guam (GUM) and Tokyo (NRT) and flights
between Guam (GUM) and Honolulu (HNL). Passengers can carry on board and use
their own portable oxygen concentrators for all other flights.
• If there are any questions about passenger
health and he/she is not suitable for traveling without the use of medical
oxygen. Those passengers may request documentation from a licensed medical
physician to verify that he/she can complete the flight safely and without the
use of medical oxygen.
• The use of liquid oxygen is prohibited on
United aircraft. However, it can be accepted only, if the liquid oxygen unit is
empty by way of a gauge or color indicator. An empty unit can be transported
only if the valve remains open for the duration of the flight.
• There is an exemption, the supplemental
personal medical oxygen and other respiratory-related equipment and devices
(e.g. nebulizer, respirator) are allowed in aircraft after the TSA screening
checkpoint once they have undergone screening.
• The airline accepts generally compressed
gas cylinders in checked baggage or as a carry-on only if the following
conditions are met.
1. If the regulator valve is completely disconnected
from the cylinder
2. The cylinder is no longer sealed (i.e., the
cylinder has an open end).
3. The cylinder must have an opening to allow
for a visual inspection inside.
RESERVATIONS FOR INFLIGHT MEDICAL
OXYGEN
The
service of reservations for inflight medical oxygen is available only on
flights between Guam (GUM) and Tokyo (NRT) and flights between Guam (GUM) and
Honolulu (HNL).
Passengers
can use FAA-approved portable oxygen concorsentrat (POCs). If a passenger wants
to bring a POC on-board, make sure to request United in advance.
GUIDELINES FOR REQUESTING MEDICAL
OXYGEN ON FLIGHTS FROM/TO MICRONESIA
Advance
request is required to make oxygen arrangements when traveling to or from
Micronesia. Passengers can make requests for inflight therapeutic oxygen at any
time after the reservation is made. The request should be made a minimum of 48
hours before travel.
OXYGEN REQUEST INFORMATION
An
oxygen setup is required for each United Flights. Passengers can use the airline in flight oxygen at a reasonable
service charge per oxygen setup.
The
service of oxygen is available only during flights, if the passenger needs
oxygen during ground connections, he/she needs to contact an oxygen vendor.
Requesting oxygen
To
request oxygen, the passenger must complete the following steps:

Contact the United Customer Contact Center
·
Print the oxygen request form.
·
Complete the Traveler section of the form.
·
Have your physician complete the Physician section. It is
your physician's responsibility to sign and fax the form to United Airlines.
